WELCOME TO THE TRILLIUM TOUR 2008

The Trillium Tour’s philosophy has not changed since its inception. It is designed to provide driving enthusiasts with the opportunity to enjoy their vehicles on great paved driving roads in the picturesque area of Muskoka. In addition, The Trillium Tour will raise money for Chrysalis, Huntsville’s new transitional home for women and children.

Many manufacturers are building vehicles that corner better, stop better and generally give a driving experience that was once reserved only for high end European sports cars. The roads of Muskoka give vehicles and drivers the chance to showcase their driving talents and enjoyment of their passion. The Trillium Tour offers a wonderful experience for both drivers and co-drivers as they traverse some interesting topography and see some historical points-of-interest around Muskoka.

Drivers and co-drivers of all kinds of vehicles are welcome. If you drive an European sports car/sedan, North American car or truck, an Asian sports cars or anything else you love to drive, you will enjoy the driving route. Motorcycles are also welcome and will enjoy the driving experience.

The Trillium Tour will start Saturday, May 31 at 9:30am. from our host resort, the Delta Grandview, located just minutes east of Huntsville, Ontario on Highway 60. An interesting route will take the participants through Muskoka, passing many points-of-interest and historical sites in the District. Drivers are encouraged to stop and explore when they see things they want to investigate more closely - whether it is a scenic lookout, an historical point or an interesting shop.

After a few hours of driving, The Trillium Tour route will bring participants to the lunch stop. In 2007, the lunch stoop was at “Grace and Speed” at the newly renovated Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst, a museum dedicated to the remarkable wooden boat industry of Muskoka in the 1920s to today. After a delicious buffet lunch, participants enjoyed touring the static, interactive and in-water displays. Ditchburns, Shepherds and Duke boats were all on display.

After lunch, the participants will be on the road again. Continuing along the great paved driving roads, participants will enjoy more of what they experienced during the morning drive. By mid-afternoon, the route will return participants to the Delta Grandview Resort.

Those choosing to stay at Grandview will be able to enjoy the facilities: executive golf, swimming, tennis, mountain biking, hiking or the gym. Others will retire to their accommodations and ready themselves for the evening’s activities.

A cocktail reception will kickoff the evening’s festivities along with a silent auction for Chrysalis. In 2007, there were some great bargains to be had, especially when all the proceeds were destined for Chrysalis. The world class chefs at Grandview will prepare and serve a gourmet dinner while the silent auction continues. As sections of the auction close, participants will revel in their new acquisitions.

Before the final section is closed, bringing the silent auction to an end, a guest speaker will entertain with stories of their life in and around the motor vehicle/motorsports industry. The rest of the evening will be spent trading stories of the day’s drive and making new friends who have like interests.

Sunday, June 1 will be the Show N’ Shine for Chrysalis. All participants who enjoyed the Tour are automatically entered in the show. Any and all local vehicles (cars, trucks and motorcycles) are invited to join in the Show N’ Shine, beginning at 12 noon. MBRP Inc., a Huntsville maker of custom exhaust systems, will enhance the show by bringing some of their promotional vehicles. There may even be one that was built for the incredible SEMA Show (automotive aftermarket) that takes place in Las Vegas every November. Spectators are invited, admission is by donation to Chrysalis, and Sunday only Show N’ Shine participants will pay $15 as an entry fee/ donation. There is a wonderful local custom and classic car community in Muskoka, who are expected to support the charity as well as anyone who wishes to make the drive to Huntsville to show off their vehicle, for a good cause.

After the awards are presented at 3:00pm, The Trillium Tour will end with, hopefully, another generous donation available for Chrysalis.
